About the field of study and specialization:
Regarding the bachelor’s degree program:

The bachelor’s degree program is conducted in Karakalpak, Uzbek, Russian, Kazakh, and Turkmen languages.
About the Master’s degree specialization:
1st year 70110401 – Theory and Methodology of Education and Upbringing (Primary Education)
2nd year 70110501 – Theory and Methodology of Education and Upbringing (Primary Education)
The specialization courses are conducted in Karakalpak and Uzbek languages, and efforts are being made to train scientific and pedagogical personnel for the primary education system.
About professors and teachers:
Currently, the department employs 23 professors and teachers, including 1 Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences (DSc) professor, 6 Candidates of Pedagogical Sciences and Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) in Pedagogical Sciences who are associate professors, 2 senior lecturers, 10 assistant lecturers, and 4 trainee lecturers. They are not only conducting educational work among students and master’s students but are also working on strengthening the educational and methodological base.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 19, 2021 No. PP-5117 “On bringing the popularization of foreign language learning in the Republic of Uzbekistan to a qualitatively new level,” 2 professors and teachers of the department have B2 and B1 certificates for their level of foreign language proficiency.

The Department of Primary Education was initially established in 1966, headed by Professors J.Orinbaev, A.Najimov, J.Qayirbaev, and later Q.Qosnazarov. The department was originally formed as the “Elementary Education Methodology” department and was established in 1990 alongside the opening of the newly organized Ajiniyaz Nukus State Pedagogical Institute. In 1998, at the suggestion of Sh. Raikhanov, inspector of the Board of the Commission for the Certification of Higher and Secondary Specialized Educational Institutions under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the name of this department was changed to the Department of “Theory and Methodology of Primary Education.” In 1998, the Department of “Music and its Teaching Methodology” was merged into this department. The merger of these two departments was mainly due to the reduction of music lessons in the approved curriculum for the 1998-1999 academic year. In 2001, in accordance with the decision of the Institute’s Academic Council, the “Pedagogy” Department was merged into this department. From 2001 to 2008, the Department of “Theory and Methodology of Primary Education” operated under the name “Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education.” From 2008 to 2015, this department was called “Methods of Primary Education,” and from 2015 until the present day, it has been known as the “Primary Education” department.
From 1990 to 1992, the department was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Professor Ayman Najimov; from 1992 to 1998, the department was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Professor Jumirbay Qayirbaev; from 1998 to 2017, the department was headed by Doctor of Philological Sciences Maqset Qallievich Ayimbetov; and from 2017 to 2019, this department was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Saodat Jubatxanona Shinnazarova. Since 2019, this department has been headed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Zamira Kalbaevna Kurbaniyazova.
It is particularly noteworthy to mention the contributions of K. Kosnazarov, an Honored Scientist of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences; J. Kayirbaev, an Honored Worker of Public Education of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences; and K. Pirniyazov, a methodologist scientist and Associate Professor, in the development of the primary education system.
Under the leadership of M.K. Ayimbetov, Doctor of Philological Sciences, documentary films titled “Karakalpak Film,” “Karakalpak Folklore,” and “Treasures of Our Land” were produced based on scripts prepared by the department staff and presented to our people.

On the scientific work of professors and teachers:
To date, the department’s professors and teachers have published 14 textbooks, 23 study guides, 10 methodological manuals, and 6 monographs.
The department’s professors and teachers have been contributing their scientific articles not only to scientific journals in our Republic but also to Impact Factor, Scopus, and Web of Science journals. As an example, by the end of 2024, a total of 29 articles were published in HAC (Higher Attestation Commission) journals, of which 18 were published abroad, and 17 abstracts were presented at international conferences.
The department organized a Republican scientific-theoretical conference titled “Processes of Modernization of Primary Education: Problems and Solutions” in 2019;
In 2020, an Online International Scientific-Theoretical Conference on “Competency-Based Organization of Primary Education: Theory and Practice”;
In 2021, an Online International Scientific-Theoretical Conference on the topic “Issues of Implementing Scientific and Innovative Technologies in Improving the Quality of Education”;
In 2022, an online international scientific-theoretical conference on the topic “Issues of Using Digital Technologies and Their Commercialization in Improving the Quality of Education”;
In 2023, under the motto “New Uzbekistan – Third Renaissance,” an international scientific and theoretical conference was held on the topic “Optimizing the Widespread Introduction of Educational Materials Based on International Educational Standards into the Continuous Education System.”

Cooperation with foreign higher educational institutions:
The department team also works in cooperation with leading higher education institutions that have high ratings in foreign countries. In collaboration with Moscow State Pedagogical University (MSPU), lectures on specialized subjects were organized in academic groups where instruction is conducted in Russian, and research work was carried out for master’s students. The textbook “Methods of Teaching Russian Language (Grammar) ” created jointly by Professor Z.K. Kurbaniyazova and Associate Professor G.A. Kallibekova, together with MSPU Associate Professor and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Salomatina through the “Русский мир” Foundation, was of great importance for students. Professor Z.K. Kurbaniyazova participated in the Forum organized by the Association of Eurasian Pedagogical Universities in Yaroslavl and exchanged experiences with specialists in the field. Currently, the professors and instructors of the department maintain close connections with M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University and Abai Kazakh National University. Professors and instructors of our department, G.A. Kallibekova, A.K. Kadrekova, and T.A. Baynazarov, have given lectures at Abay Kazakh National University, Associate Professor and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Nurjanova Sajila Abdusadikovna and Ermekbaev Mukhtar Abenovich from this university have been delivering meaningful lectures to our students. Professors and instructors of our department G.A.Kallibekova, A.K.Kadrekova, and T.A.Baynazarov lectured at the National University of Kazakhstan named after Abay.
