 Department of “General Pedagogy and Psychology”

 The Department of General Pedagogy and Psychology has a rich history

 The department was called “Pedagogy”, “Pedagogy and Psychology”, “General Pedagogy”, “General Pedagogy and Psychology”.

 The “Department of General Pedagogy and Psychology” was established in 1934.

 Professors Y.M.Dosumov, J.A.Urumbaev, associate professor A.G.Timosheva participated in the organization of the department of pedagogy and psychology at the Karakalpak State Pedagogical Institute.

In 1935, the department was headed by Associate Professor N.D. Shepkina

 From 1956 to 1960, the department was headed by the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor A.B.Bekbasov, from 1960 to 1967 by the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor R.G.Timosheva, from 1967 to 1973 by the candidate of pedagogical sciences, professor J.Urumbaev.

In 1990, the Nukus State Pedagogical Institute paid special attention to pedagogy.

 In the same year, the interfaculty department “Pedagogy and Psychology” was created at the institute, which until 1994 was headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor B.Sultamuratov.

 From 1994 to 1997, it was headed by Professor U.Aleuov.

 Since this period, special attention has been paid to increasing the scientific and pedagogical potential of the department

The department was headed by: – ​​from 1997 to 1999 – candidate of pedagogical sciences of the department, associate professor I.Alaniyazov;

– from 1999 to 2007 – candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor U.Seitzhanova;

 – from 2007 to 2017, headed by candidate of pedagogical sciences P.Berdanova

 Currently, the department is headed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor T. Utebaev.

Teachers of the department teach in the subjects “General Pedagogy”, “General Psychology” to students in all areas of undergraduate education at the institute.

There are only 27 professor-teachers working at the department, including: 3 professors, 4 associate professors, 7 senior teachers, 9 assistants and 1 trainee teacher.

On October 4, 2024, Associate Professor of the Department G.Bekimbetova received the degree of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences (DSc) on the topic “Improving the mechanism of teaching the Karakalpak language in schools.”

Professors and teachers of the department made a great contribution to the development of a comprehensive education system in a higher education institutions to implement the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Education”, a harmoniously developed, modern-minded young generation

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 19, 2021 No. PP-5117 “On improving the quality of studying foreign languages ​​in the Republic of Uzbekistan” 1 teacher received a C1 certificate in foreign language proficiency.

From June 15 to July 17, 2024, Professor A.Pazilov was in advanced training at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which was ranked among the TOP-200 universities in the world. In the month of January-February 2025, professors-teachers of the department T.Utebaev, K.Kenzhebaeva, T.Yesemuratova, G.Babasheva, A.Temirbekova, A.Doskhojaeva were in advanced training at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and planning to collaborate with teachers of the department of pedagogy, to publish textbooks, teaching aids, increase the level of the Hirsch index (h-index), articles in Web of Science platform and impact factor journals.

Currently, the scientific theme of the department is called “Continuing education and the history of pedagogical ideas in Karakalpakstan” and undergraduate students of the institute in the learning process pay attention to the study of current issues of pedagogical science and the history of pedagogical ideas.  During 2024, professors and teachers of the department published 6 textbooks, 1 monograph and 42 articles.
