     Turabaeva Nazira Aytmuratovna, Cand.Sc.Phil., associate professor. Born on September 9, 1972 in Nukus. In 1994, graduated from Teacher-Training State Institute of Nukus. Profession – philologist, teacher of the Russian language and literature. In 2008, defended her candidate dissertation on the topic “The Influence of the Uzbek Language on the Development of the Vocabulary of the Karakalpak Language”. The area of research interests: comparative typology of the Russian and Karakalpak languages. Co-author of 2 teaching aids, author of more than 25 scientific articles and theses.

🏛 History of the Department

     The Department of Russian Language and Literature was founded in 1937 on the basis of the Turtkul State Lecturers’ Training Institute, the predecessor of the current Educational Institute of Nukus after Ajiniyaz. Since its foundation, it has become an important scientific and methodological center for training professionals in the field of the Russian language, literature, and teaching methods.

     The first faculty of the department was formed from professionals who arrived from Russia. Among them there were professors and lecturers G. D. Petrov, L. A. Saradzhev, P. G. Gopshtein, P. I. Senin, A. N. Sidorov, T. A. Ivanova, Sedletsky and others. Thanks to their efforts, the first wave of national scientific and pedagogical personnel was trained, what laid the foundation for the Karakalpak school of Russian studies.

     Since the 1950s, the department functioned as part of the Faculty of the Russian language and Literature of the Teacher-Training State Institute after T.G.Shevchenko. In different years, lectures at the department were given by leading scientists: academicians M. K. Nurmukhamedov, Kh. Khalilov, professors N. A. Urumbaev, A. A. Azizov, A. U. Umarov, A. Turabaev, E. Berdimuratov , associate professors U. Yu. Matkurbanov , Yu. H. Matkurbanov, B. H. Khoshanov, K. S. Saparov, Z. A. Shamuratova, A. Alniyazov, N. B. Orymbetova, G. J.Allamuratova.

     Other experienced lecturers also made a significant contribution to the development of the department: L. S. Baeva, M. A. Maksyutova, T. P. Mulik, A. I. Balakina, Z. M. Kulakova, N. I. Volosatova, M. A. Berdibaeva and others.

     Among the graduates of the department – academicians of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan M.K. Nurmukhamedov and H. Khalilov, Drs. and Cands.Sc.Phil. N.A. Urumbaev, E. Berdimuratov, A.U. Umarov, K.M. Koshchanov, A. Djaksybaev. Their scientific works, methodological developments and participation in educational projects played an important role in the development of the Russian philology in Karakalpakstan.

     Today, the department continues to develop the traditions of the scientific school, implements bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, and provides training for specialists capable of analytical and teaching work in the field of language, literature and education.

Koschanov, Kutlymurat Moyatdinovich, Cand.Sc.Phil., professor. Born on January 21, 1951 in the Kegeyli province. 1974 – degree of Karakalpak State Teacher-Training Institute. Profession – philologist, teacher of the Russian language and literature. 1978 – Cand.Sc. degree on the topic “Russian-International Vocabulary as a Source of Enrichment of the Vocabulary of the Karakalpak Language.” The area of research interests: borrowing processes. Authoured more than 50 monographs, textbooks and teaching aids for universities, schools and colleges and more than 250 scientific and methodological articles in scientific journals of the Republic of Uzbekistan and abroad. K.Koschanov – Honored Mentor of the Youth of Karakalpakstan, recipient of honour certificates of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Certificate of Honor of the Republic of Uzbekistan, an excellent worker of public education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. 1989 – member of the editorial board of the scientific and methodological Higher Attestation Commission journal “Science and Society”.

Khalmuratov, Tajetdin Jumashevich, Cand.Sc.Phil., Associate Professor. Born on August 4, 1956 in Nukus. 1980 – degree of Nukus State University. Profession: philologist, teacher of the Russian language and literature. 1994 – Cand.Sc.degree on the topic: “Unionless Complex Sentences of Homogeneous Composition of the Modern Russian language in the Aspect of the Problem of Identities and Differences.” Currently working on a Dr.Sc. dissertation on the topic: “Unionless Complex Sentences in Languages of Different Systems.” Khalmuratov, T.J. has been repeatedly awarded Certificates of Honor of the Institute, the Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan (2004). Excellent worker of public education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2005), excellent worker of public education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. (2008). Authored more than 30 scientific, scientific and methodological works.

Eshniyazova, Elmira Nauryzbaevna, Cand.Sc.Phil., senior lecturer. Born on May 10, 1970. In 1991 – degree of Nukus State University (now KSU named after Berdakh.) Profession – philologist, teacher of the Russian language and literature. 2001 – Cand.Sc. degree on the topic “Lyrics of T. Matmuratov (ideological-thematic, genre and artistic originalities.)” The area of research interests: methodology of teaching literature. Authoured 5 scientific and methodological manuals, 50 scientific and methodological articles.
Dilmanov, Ilya Orakbaevich, Cand.Sc.Phil., Associate Professor. Born on September 15, 1962 in the Kegeyli province of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. 1990 – degree of the National University of Uzbekistan after Ulugbek. Profession – philologist, teacher of the Russian language and literature. 2005 – Cand.Sc.degree on the topic “Features of the Interpretation of National Identity in the Translation of Epic Works from Related Languages“. The area of research interests: the problems of the Russian, Uzbek, Karakalpak and Kazakh literature, folklore studies and translation studies. Authoured more than 100 scientific and methodological works. Member of the editorial board of the Republican “ITII Bulletin” popular science journal of the International Innovation Institute of Taraz (2024) as well as the “Science and Society” scientific and methodological journal of Teacher-Training State Institute of Ajiniyaz (2025). Awarded the Shukhrat medal (2006), Honour Certificate of the Jokargy Kenges (Supreme Council) of the Republic of Karakalpakstan (2015), the “30 Years of Independence of Uzbekistan” badge (2021). 2014 – Excellent worker of public education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2014). 1996 – member of the “Creative Journalists of Uzbekistan” union. 2010 – degree of the Academy of State and Public Construction under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Grigoryeva, Marina Igorevna – Senior Lecturer for the Department of Russian Language and Literature. 1985 – degree of Nukus State University. Profession: Philologist. Teacher of the Russian language and literature. Authoured science and scientific-methodical articles in journals of Uzbekistan, as well as abroad. Active participant of international conferences. Author of the “Methodology of Teaching the the Russian language” teaching aid for bachelor level students of philological universities (Tashkent: “Yetakchi nashriyoti”.) Training courses abroad: St. Petersburg Academy of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education; Institute for Advanced Training and Additional Education of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi. Grigorieva M.I. participates as a chairperson and member of the commission in the Republican School Olympiad.

🎓 Student Participation in Competitions and Projects: Students of the department actively engage in international and national competitions, academic conferences, Olympiads, and creative initiatives. Many receive awards and scholarships, successfully representing the institute at various levels.

Notable achievements include:

  • Shorasul Kadrekov, 3rd-year student — 1st place in the International Contest “Charm of the Eyes: Russian Language as a Means of Depicting the Natural Beauty of Russia” (Nizhny Tagil, 2021).
  • Musa Mubarakov, 4th-year student:
    • Laureate of the 1st degree at the International Research Competition PTScience (Moscow, 2020)
    • Winner of the national EduOn-ta’lim grant
    • Named “Student of the Year – 2020” for scientific innovation
